Have participated in many drama activities so far this week. It is interesting to see that the children who were at our school last year are quite happy to slip in and out of the real and fictional worlds, whereas the two new children were a bit reluctant at the start. Of course this could be because they are in a new situation, but I wonder whether it was because the children had all experienced a Mantle of various sorts last year in their different classes.
We have just played drama games for the fun of it, as numb bum relievers, and various drama conventions for stories we have read. We are on a marine reserve programme this term where the children learn  about marine reserves, learn to snorkel, then visit a marine reserves, so I am trying to plan  a Mantle around this. It wont be the purist form, but will have the major elements.

  1. It is interesting that you say that those two new children found it more difficult....exciting to think about how confident the children may be next year and the year after as we ourselves weave more drama into our classrooms.
